PDF to EPUB Converter
Turn a text PDF into a reflowable EPUB that reads well on phones and e-readers.
How to convert a PDF to EPUB
Drop a PDF on the box. The converter reads its text in your browser, rebuilds the paragraphs and chapters, and shows you what it found. Check the title and chapters, add a cover, and download the EPUB.
What to expect from a PDF
A PDF is a picture of printed pages: it knows where each line sits, not where paragraphs or chapters are. So the converter works them out:
- Paragraphs are rebuilt from line spacing and indents, and words split by hyphens at line ends are joined again.
- Headings are found from larger type, and chapter lines like “Chapter 4” start new chapters.
- Running heads, footers and page numbers are removed.
- Images and tables aren’t carried over, and complex layouts (columns, sidebars) may come out in an odd order.
It only works with PDFs that have real text. A scanned PDF is just images of pages; run it through OCR first. If you have the original Word file, convert that instead: the result is always cleaner.
Why bother? A PDF keeps its page size, so it’s hard to read on a phone. An EPUB reflows to any screen, and it’s the format ebook stores want. Read more in PDF vs EPUB.

A lead magnet PDF made in Canva
Text and headings convert well; designed elements and images stay in the PDF. Keep the PDF as a download and offer the EPUB for e-readers.
A self-published paperback interior
Running heads and page numbers are stripped, chapters are found from the chapter titles, and you get a reflowable ebook edition.
A scanned book
There’s no text to read, so the converter says so. Run OCR (for example in Adobe Acrobat) and try again.

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to Koobe or anywhere else, so it works for unpublished manuscripts too.
Why are there no images in my EPUB?
Pulling images out of a PDF reliably isn’t possible in the browser yet, so this converter keeps the text. If your book needs its images, convert the original Word file instead.
Why did it say there’s no text?
The PDF is probably scanned, so each page is a picture. Run OCR on it first to add a text layer.
Can I upload a PDF to KDP instead?
KDP accepts PDF for Kindle ebooks in only a few languages, and the result rarely reads well on small screens. An EPUB is the better upload.
